The IPL fever is back! The opening ceremony of the
Indian Premier League will be held on the 2nd of April. Shah
Rukh Khan, co-owner of the team Kolkata Knight Riders, is on a high. With
Kolkata Knight Riders, winning the series last year, Shah Rukh Khan is all set
to perform on the opening night.
He is reportedly thrilled to be performing at the
opening night set to happen in Kolkata at the Salt lake Stadium. Shah Rukh Khan
co-owns the team with colleague Juhi Chawla. He loves the city and the spirit
of this city; hence he is looking forward to his performance there.
This is the first time that even Katrina Kaif will be
performing at such an event. She is preparing well for her performance and will
rock the event.
Apart from these 2 Bollywood stars, International rapper
Pitbull is also expected to perform at the opening ceremony of the Indian
Premier League. Pitbull is very well known for his albums M.I.M.A.I., Armando
and Planet Pit. When he was told about the invitation that was extended to him
to perform at the opening night of the IPL, and that Shah Rukh Khan would also
be performing, he readily agreed.
Rajeev Shukla, the Chairman of IPL was quoted saying,
"The Opening Ceremony of the Pepsi IPL 2013 will be as outstanding as the
cricket that we will witness over the subsequent seven weeks. We are in for a
spectacular commencement to what promises to be a memorable tournament."
The audiences will be witness to the 9 teams battling it
out in the championship. The teams are Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight
Riders, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings
XI Punjab, Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan
Royals. The first match of the tournament will be between Kolkata Knight
Riders and the Delhi Daredevils at the Eden Gardens.
Over the next seven weeks, the teams will battle it out
in the 76 matches. The final match will be held on the 26th of
May, and that will mark the end of the IPL season.
The Indian Premier League was inaugurated in the year
2008 and the first ever champions were the Rajasthan Royals. This is the sixth
season of the Indian Premier league and it will kick start on the 3rd of
April.
Get ready to witness some of the greatest
performances amidst much fanfare!
