Soojit Sircar's 'Piku' will see a unique pairing of Deepika Padukone and
Irrfan Khan. The film will roll in August 2014 and the casts of the film will
attend a workshop of the film. It is a beautiful story of a father-daughter
relationship and Irrfan Khan will play a pivotal role.
Starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role, 'Piku' is being
produced by MSN Motion Pictures is association with Saraswati Entertainment
Creations Limited and Rising Sun Films.
"The charisma of Mr Bachchan, seamless acting of Deepika with the
versatile flair of Irrfan Khan and the evergreen Moushami Chaterjee will make Piku
an experience for me. I am looking forward to this fantastic opportunity of
working together with such gifted talent from the industry," said Soojit
Sircar.
The 'Vicky Donor' director is looking forward to work with the great team.
"Working with Mr.Amitabh Bachchan yet again in my new role is an
absolute honour. As for Shoojit, I have been an admirer of his work since
'Yahaan' and I am really looking forward to working with him and the delightful
ensemble cast which includes the very talented Deepika, Irrfan and many
others," said Sneha Rajani, deputy president and head, MSM Motion Pictures.
Sircar said, "Piku is a character-driven father-daughter story. That's
the film I am directing next before I go on to my football film 1911
with John Abraham. My writer Juhi Trivedi who wrote Vicky Donor with me, has
written Piku. There are essentially three characters in the film of the father,
daughter and another man played by Irrfan. I've Bachchan saab's dates and very
frankly, all the other actors' dates would have to fall in line with
Bachchan Saab's schedule."
The film is slated to release in
April 2015.
