On the occasion of Diwali's Padwa day, we take a look at some of B-town's enterprising stars who have done good business over the last couple of years
Bollywood stars are no longer limiting themselves to launching their production house or studio and acting in their own movies. They are being aggressive and innovative investors and marketers and surprising everyone with their business acumen. So while Aamir Khan ventured into television production and slotted his show Satyamev Jayate at the long-forgotten time of Sunday 11am, Anil Kapoor decided to bring home the 24 series – in whose international version he acted - in a completely Indian version. While Salman Khan invested in a travel website, Shahrukh Khan thought a stake in KidZania would be a good idea.
And the girls are not far behind. Madhuri Dixit-Nene launched a production house and also bagged plum endorsement, acting and TV hosting. And Karisma Kapoor bought a share in baby products website. Lara Dutta turned producer, but is now also coolly selling sarees. Hunk John Abraham sold the idea of sperm donation successfully through his first production, Vicky Donor. Click below to know who else makes it to our list of stars who began new initiatives in the recent past – and made a crackling impact, Diwali style!
