Karisma's nine years marriage comes to an end

Karishma Kapoor's life has been an
open book for the media. Her engagement with Abhishek Bachchan and then the
sudden break-up, her hurried wedding with her childhood friend Sanjay Kapur- a
businessman based in Delhi-and their troubled marriage have all been part of
the gossip columns.

A relationship close to nine years
had been troubled since its inception. The two got married in the year 2003 but
rifts in their marriage have been the talk of the town ever since. The latest
on the two of them is that they are headed for a divorce very soon.

The trouble issues in their married
life have never been made public by the two but now the rumor mills suggest
that the divorce will be finalized soon. Custody of their two children has
grown to be an issue.

However, both are trying to come to a
mutual agreement on the authority over their children. They are planning a
mutual custody and then file for a divorce.

A source close to the actress said
"They've been through discussions about this (a divorce) of late. They're now
trying to come upon an agreement where they can get mutual custody of the two
children."

Soon after their wedding in 2003
there were speculations of the two filing for divorce. In 2005, after the birth
of their daughter Samaira the two reconciled for a short while but then both
started living independently. Karishma shifted base to Mumbai from Delhi where
Sanjay was stationed.

In 2010, the two reconciled again and
were seen together at various events with Karishma's sister Kareena and Saif.
This time around Karishma became pregnant with her second child Kiaan. However,
speculations suggest that not all were fine between the two back then.

Latest on them is that now Sanjay is
involved with socialite-cum-entrepreneur Priya Sachdev and wants to settle down
with her. All this was confirmed when Sanjay Kapur did not show up for the
Kareena-Saif wedding. The five-day event was not attended by him. The reception
that was held in Delhi, where the entire family of the Kapur's (Karishma's
in-laws) turned up, was also given a miss by her husband.

It is also said that Sanjay wanted to
invite Priya Sachdev for the wedding, but was not allowed by Karishma and his
own family. Karishma continues to maintain a very friendly relationship with
Sanjay's family and they seem to be completely on her side.
